Oval Table Runner
First time working from the outside in - the two long borders were salvaged from another project and needed an inside. I always wanted to try this oval appliqué technique - it made a good match.

Purple scallops with applique foundation behind them, they're cut with seam allowance and edge turning allowance - ready to be stitched together and have their edges edges turned
Purple scallops, stitched together, edges turned, and basted to the pieced gold strips
Planning the layout of the overlaying ovals - I'm glad I didn't have enough of that mottled, sort of hand dyed looking blue, purple and gold fabric and had to add some other prints
I thought 1" strips of several gold fabrics would make a more interesting texture than one gold fabric - and look at me trying to save some fabric =)
In two sections, the overlapping ovals were appliquéd to pieced red rectangles
