Solid 70’s Wallpaper Quilt
As a 10-year old in the early 70’s, I might have been more affected than I thought watching my parents remodel their kitchen. I still like the style of that period a lot, including many of the wallpapers that were so popular.
I think everything in our kitchen was avocado - the appliances, the countertops, the chairs, the linoleum floor. The tabletop may have been brown and the legs chrome but everything else - avocado. Maybe there was some harvest gold…

One of the many wallpaper images that inspired the quilt

V shaped chevrons were appliqued together to create the circles - the edges were turned over a leave-in foundation and invisibly machine stitched

The completed circles ready for stitching to the backgound

The circles on a wooden tabletop - it's the background fabric that will add more drama to the four-pointed shapes between the circles

The background is basically a 9-patch with a border - here the middle four circles are basted to the background

The quilt top from the back - all 16 circles appliqued onto the front, you should be able to see the bobbin thread on the back from the applique stitching

Um, I also really like this 70's wallpaper design - enough to make a few circles

However, I wasn't as fond of this design as a whole quilt...

I did like this 70's wallpaper design enough to also make a few circles in prints...
