Christmas for a New Day - Borders

Medallion styled quilts seem to interest me; it’s one of the things that attracted me to Sue Garman’s Stars for a New Day quilt - a previous block of the month quilt on The Quilt Show.

Christmas for a New Day was started in 2009. Some of the reasons it’s taking me so long:

  • I don’t think I’ve made a quilt with quite this many borders before.

  • It’s going to finish 85”x85” - my second largest quilt.

  • Other project got more interesting to me…

But now I’m having fun again and I’m motivated to finish.

Bowling

This weekend I get to drive to Phoenix to take a lesson from a high school friend I haven’t seen in 40 years. He’s in town to lead a clinic on Saturday and I get a private lesson afterwards. I’m excited.

Sunday is Bowl for the Cure Tucson (Bowling for Boobies) - a fun tournament and charity auction where we donate all our winnings to support the Susan G. Komen charity.

Next Time

The goal is to get all four variable star borders attached and the final border on next week. Then piece a back and baste. Quilted by the end of Thanksgiving weekend. I’m gonna get this done!

Quilt your way!
