Stabilizing Done - Time for Fun

Christmas Stars for a New Day relaxing by the pool…

Okay, so I did start some design quilting before I got all of the basting safety pins out (I couldn’t wait), but getting all the pins out is still one of my favorite milestones.

Loving this quilting! Sometimes I outline or embellish the fabric designs. First time I’ve used metallic thread for this and it’s coming out really well - so well I didn’t even think to see how much thread was left…

Once I realized the thread was running out, I used the last bits of thread to do a few leaves in each of the other three corners. This way, if the same thread isn’t available and I have to make a creative thread change, the new thread may blend in a little better.

Now I have to come up with some additional designs - hey, since I’m liking these a lot, I wonder if other areas can be filled with holly leaves and berries… ??? Maybe rejuvenate and recycle some quilting from Celtic Christmas Crossing?

Bowling

Last weekend was an important tournament - the AZ State Senior Masters. I qualified 3rd and then lost in the round of 8. In addition to bowling well, I enjoyed the competition and spending time with friends.

It’s also a big bowling week coming up. This weekend is a regional senior tournament in the northwest Phoenix area. Then we continue on to the South Point Senior Shootout in Las Vegas. The Senior Shootout is a series of four tournaments on different lane conditions and slightly different formats. Versatile Keith cashed in all four events last time - I plan to do well next week also. Wish me luck!

Next Time

Since I’ll be out of town for 8 days bowling tournaments in Phoenix and Las Vegas - it may be two weeks between posts. By then, I should have more design quilting done, probably more with metallic thread. I’ll have to turn the productivity up a notch if I want to get this quilt done before the end of November.

Quilt your way!
